Background
About Michael Batta
I lead a team of professionals that are responsible for regulated and competitive policy formulation and decisions for Dominion's electric business interests primarily in eastern US organized wholesale electric markets. I am responsible for much of the transmission-specific policy and rate-making strategy and decisions for Dominion's wholly owned state-regulated utilities in Virginia and North Carolina. I lead the direction of Dominion's general business and transmission interests, with the support of our outstanding legal team, in wholesale Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) matters. Electric Transmission policy and rate-making issues that arise at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) or Department of Energy (DOE) in the form of formally filed comments, protests, complaints, and litigation strategy/support are handled by my team. As a member company of Edison Electric Institute (EEI), American Clean Power (ACP) and WIRES, I represent Dominion in the strategy, commenting, drafting of positions, and other electric industry matters to move import issues forward with those groups on behalf of their members. Previous to my policy and rate regulation responsibilities, I served as Manager - Commodity Trading Financial Support overseeing the fuel, electric, and derivative accounting for Dominion Energy Marketing, an unregulated trading and asset management affiliate of Dominion. Before joining Dominion in 2001, I held various analytical finance positions for five years with the Federal Reserve Bank. Education: M.B.A. from the College of William and Mary and a B.S. in Finance, Cum Laude, from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dominion (NYSE: D) is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy. About 7 million customers in 13 states energize their homes and businesses with electricity or natural gas from Dominion Energy, headquartered in Richmond, Va. Dominion employs over people, providing reliable, affordable, clean energy to those nearly 7 million customers. We are a leader in the clean energy transition, with a clear strategy to achieve net-zero carbon and methane emissions. We have the largest offshore wind project under development in the United States. Once complete in 2026, around 180 wind turbines off the coast of Virginia will power up to Dominion Energy Virginia customers’ homes. Our solar fleet, already the one of the largest among US utility holding companies, will grow from a current to approximately megawatts by 2035. Learn more about my company at dominionenery.com
