About Michael Bendig

Michael is a recognized insights professional with 20+ years international experience. Elected twice to the ESOMAR Council, he also lead best practice governance for Boehringer Ingelheim's Customer Insights capability in Prescription Medicines, before focusing on quantifying opportunities for the company's Oncology pipeline portfolio in 2020. Currently, he is partnering with the zongertinib asset team to quantify strategic opportunities in cancers with specific molecular profiles. In 2004, Michael chose to move from FMCG to prescription pharmaceuticals. He is passionate about making new and better treatment options available to cancer patients. As global brand team member and customer insights lead, he contributed to shaping and executing the global launch strategies for Giotrif (afatinib) and Vargatef (nintedanib), two targeted therapies in NSCLC. Beyond these launches, he also assessed strategic opportunities for multiple TKIs, monoclonal antibodies, oncolytic viruses, ADCs and biosimilars in both solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Previously Michael has successfully led the global primary market research team at Boehringer Ingelheim's prescription medicines headquarters (respiratory, cardiovascular, urology, virology and CNS franchises). Originally, Michael has worked for 10 years in consumer marketing and international market research, on global brands from the household detergent and personal care categories. While based in Germany, France and Switzerland, he has conducted research in all major established and emerging markets, and has substantial hands-on experience of leading complex international projects with on-site or virtual, intercultural teams. Michael currently lives in Mainz with his wife and kids.
