About Michael Benson

I'm a secondary educator and master's student in Educational Leadership, with five years of teaching experience across the humanities—including History, Geography, Civics, Business, and Literature—in both Christian and mainstream schooling contexts. My professional focus is on education reform, with a strong belief that we must do better for neurodivergent and Aboriginal students. I’m passionate about reimagining the structure of education in Australia to reflect research-based best practices, global trends, and the needs of diverse learners. To deepen my understanding of the systemic forces shaping education, I’ve studied sociology, psychology, philosophy, and policy—bringing together interdisciplinary insight to guide future-focused reform. My approach combines academic rigour with lived classroom experience, and a deep care for equity and inclusion. Over the past few years, I’ve- Developed full curriculum and LMS content across multiple subjects and year levels, often from scratch- Led resource development and digital learning design in alignment with Australian Curriculum and school values- Worked closely with students with ASD and ADHD, contributing to their individual support plans and differentiation strategies- Contributed to leadership discussions around assessment design, reporting models, and educational direction. I'm currently building a network of likeminded educators, reformers, and innovators who believe in designing systems that prepare students—not just for exams, but for life, work, and responsible citizenship in an increasingly complex world.
