About Michael Bjorne

I’m currently a non-active CPA working as a senior financial analyst for Delta Dental of Michigan. I have been with the company since the fall of 2018. My role includes working with department leaders in developing, preparing and monitoring their budgets/expenses on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis. I also assist in preparing monthly financial entries, reports and analysis for the entire company and affiliates along with year end close processes. Prior to joining Delta Dental, I worked 17 years for the Michigan Secretary of State. I spent the last 10 years in management with my last position being the Revenue Collection and Monitoring Section Manager. I was in charge of the Revenue Unit, Accounts Receivable Unit and the Cashier Unit located in Dimondale, Michigan. Our role was monitoring all of the revenue and receivables collected by the Secretary of State to insure that monies were properly accounted for and accurately distributed. Some of my responsibilities included hiring, training and reviewing team member performance. I was responsible for overseeing month end close, year end close and working with external auditors. I represented my departments as a SME on numerous projects. Before moving to management I worked as a senior auditor and senior accountant with the State of Michigan. After graduating college I worked for five years at Granchamp & McBride CPA’s in Ishpeming Michigan. They provided me with my accounting foundation by developing my knowledge of GAAP principals and developing my analytical and critical thinking skills. I also obtained my CPA license while working at the firm.
