Hello! My name is Michael and I am a 2L JD candidate at Drake University Law School. I received my PhD in music theory from the Eastman School of Music in 2021. Skilled in building rapport with people and communicating complex concepts in simple terms, I seek to apply the skills I’ve gained through my academic, teaching, performance, and service work to the legal field. With my extensive training in research, synthesis, and writing, I am a talented written and verbal communicator to both professional and layperson audiences. My dissertation was a novel investigation of rhyme in rap music which led to the creation of an original type of notation called Lyric Notation which allows for the analysis of speech sounds and lyrics as music.
