About Michael Bradford

I joined the University of Connecticut in as a faculty member in the Department of Dramatic Arts Theatre Studies program, with a focus on dramatic history, literature and playwriting. My teaching and research interests focus on dramatic literature and theory, innovative writing workshops, new play development, directing, and dramaturgy. I am passionate about teaching and mentoring students in each of these areas. My plays have centered on the historical ramifications of the African-American experience in the United States and the ways we have triumphed in spite of the trauma stamped on our collective DNA. My plays have been produced Off-Broadway and across New York City; Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Hartford and New London, CT; Boston, MA; and internationally in the UK, Romania, and in Havana, Cuba. My work is published by Broadway Play Publishing and Dr. Cicero Press. I am responsible for supporting the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Asociate Vice Provost for Special Academic Programs, Associate Vice Provost of the Writing Center, Executive Director of Academic Advising, and the Director of the Center for Educational Effectiveness."Undergraduate Education" provides academic resources that support student success, academic advising professional development, and modality and pedagogy support focused on faculty and graduate students teaching in the undergraduate space. I report to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor. I am a ten-year Veteran of the United States Navy, six years as a Boomer Class Submariner and four years as Military Police. Service end date, December 1992.
