About Michael Buyck

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva in 2012, specializing in Pediatrics (2017) and Pediatric Emergency Medicine (2023), after completing my postgraduate training in Switzerland and Canada. Clinically, I have been an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) since 2023, then Senior Attending Physician since 2025, where I work both as a clinician and supervisor. Passionate about education, I pursued further training in medical education, obtaining a Diplôme d'Études Spécialisées (DES) in Simulation-Based Pedagogy (2021) and a Master’s in Medical Education (2022) from the University of Montreal, Canada. I am currently working on my PhD in Medical Education at the University of Geneva. My teaching and research projects focus on clinical supervision in both undergraduate and postgraduate settings, targeting both learners (students, residents, and fellows) and educators. A particular area of interest is the implementation of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) at the undergraduate level and their development for postgraduate training. In addition to my work in pediatric emergency care, I am also the Deputy Director of the PCSE program, after several years of serving as a facilitator in various workshops and coaching sessions to train clinical fellows in developing supervision skills.
