About Michael C. W. Chiu

With over a decade of experience as a professional photographer since 2011, I’ve spent much of my career capturing human expression—particularly through portraiture and in the world of performing arts. I’ve collaborated with actors, directors, and creatives to produce compelling visuals for posters and campaigns, blending technical precision with emotional storytelling. In 2021, I transitioned into psychology—a field that, like photography, centers on understanding the human experience. After completing the Master of Social Sciences in Psychology at the University of Hong Kong, I began working in academic and non-profit mental health research. I currently serve as a research coordinator, with a focus on psychological wellbeing, low-intensity interventions, and public mental health services. In my role, I oversee research operations and backend infrastructure, conduct literature reviews, perform quantitative analyses using R, and manage large datasets in Excel and Google Sheets. I also design dashboards and visual reports using Looker Studio to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. I’m passionate about integrating creativity, empathy, and data-driven insight to advance evidence-based mental health practices. Always eager to learn and collaborate, I welcome opportunities in research, service design, data strategy, and storytelling in psychology and beyond. Let’s connect—especially if you’re working on something that combines research, design, and community impact.
