About Michael C. Y. Floyd

I am a people-person and a helper. I've spent the last ten years working in schools with kids of all ages. I love young people and all they have to offer. I started working with kids as a paraprofessional for students with Autism. Then, I moved to Virginia and started teaching history, math, and science in grades 4-6 at Good Shepherd Episcopal School. From there, I worked with middle school students teaching history at Grace Christian. Off and on during this time, I have also worked for Care.com, helping people who are elderly or with disabilities with care around the home. Most recently, I am working with students of all ages through substitute teaching for Hanover County Public Schools. Through all of this, I've learned that I love helping people. I really love the feeling I get when I know I've made a difference in a person's life. Personally, when not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and I'm an avid East Carolina football fan. I enjoy family time, video games with my son, hiking, and watching my Pirates play football! I enjoy traveling and the beach is my favorite place to relax. I love history and enjoy visiting historical locations. I love putting myself out there and trying new things. I'm looking for a new career where I can use my love for people and strong work ethic.
