About Michael Casner

After practicing medicine as an emergency physician for 11 years, I made a dramatic decision to leave my job and begin a new career as an attorney. The intersection of law and medicine has always fascinated me. The medical and legal professions are in so many ways alike, but there are vast differences which often make it difficult, if not impossible, for us to communicate effectively. The law also intersects with medicine on almost every conceivable level, from regulation (of the practice of medicine, of the insurance industry, and of the pharmaceutical and medical device industry) to litigation. As someone with experience in both profoessions, I understand the work physicians do and I am able to speak in a language they understand. At the same time, I appreciate how the law impacts medical care and how the law can be used to help physicians better care for their patients. I begin my legal career intending to bridge the gap between the legal and medical professions, helping both my fellow attorneys and my fellow physicians work together better in pursuit of common goals.
