Background
About Michael Castner
Michael is the Morning National News Anchor at iHeart Media’s NBC News Radio Michael’s career has spanned the spectrum of news, entertainment and politics. He hosted the nationally syndicated The Daily Wrap from the Wall Street Journal Radio Network. The show originated from New York City and was heard on almost 100 stations. Michael also hosted drive time shows for iHeart Radio and Entercom Radio. Castner was the host of Bonneville International's trendsetting Nightside Project which was heard in Salt Lake City, Washington D.C. and Phoenix. The staff was made up of millennial's with little or no experience in journalism or broadcasting. His responsibility was to take their perspective and teach them how to turn that into fresh and innovative yet polished radio. Michael served as Communications Guru for the Utah State Senate. His role was to help integrate technology into the messaging for the senate body. The project was labeled Government 2.0. The groundbreaking program was presented to state and international legislative bodies at conferences around the world. Prior to that Michael was a host on the E! Channel. During the 15 years he aired on E! Michael covered the red carpet and hosted his own talk show. He also headed a production team of 70 for the syndicated daytime television show “Everyday with Joan Lunden”. He covered the White House and State Department for Tribune Broadcasting and then went on to serve as press adviser to then congressional candidate Joseph P. Kennedy II. While in Utah, Castner pushed for what he called "The Puppy Torture" bill, making animal abuse a felony statewide. It was signed into law by Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. While on WRNO-FM in New Orleans Castner hosted a series on cyber-bullying. Castner to asked for a law addressing the issue in Louisiana schools. After Castner testified before House and Senate committees the bill passed unanimously. It was signed into law by Governor Bobby Jindal. He was once in the Hollywood Christmas Parade with Mario Lopez and Screech from Saved by the Bell. Don't ask.
