About Michael Catlett

Mike is currently a judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One. As an appellate judge, Mike hears and decides appeals relating to a wide variety of subject matters, including appeals from trial courts relating to civil, criminal, family, and juvenile matters. Prior to joining the Arizona Court of Appeals, Mike was Deputy Solicitor General and Chief Counsel of Special Litigation at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. Mike handled appellate and litigation matters for the State of Arizona. As Chief Counsel of Special Litigation, Mike also oversaw the Attorney General’s Government Accountability Unit and Open Meeting Law Enforcement Team. Mike helped oversee litigation and appeals relating to consumer fraud, constitutional law, and the enforcement of various Arizona statutes. Prior to joining the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Mike was a partner and trial and appellate litigator at Quarles & Brady. He assisted his clients in prosecuting and defending complex commercial litigation and appellate matters in state and federal courts across the country. Mike was also an associate at Osborn Maledon. Mike graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona's James E. Rogers College of Law in 2006. In law school, Mike served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Arizona Law Review. Following law school, Mike served a one-year federal appellate clerkship with the Hon. Paul J. Kelly, Jr, United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
