About Michael Chaplin

I'm an Aerospace Electronics Enginneering graduate with a P. Eng designation and a burning passion for learning about all things science, engineering and space. Throughout my degree I expanded my horizons and got quite involved with the Carleton Engineering community which was the best decision of my life. I made countless friends and colleagues for life and even got to work with some of them during my co-op at MDS. When I'm not at school or working, I'm usually talking about my rock climbing to my roommates and/or hanging off of the trim in my house to show off my skills. When I'm not being active, I'm likely watching scary movies and discussing them with my like-minded scary movie watching friends or just kicking back playing some video or board games. I enjoy cooking but also enjoy going out on occasion and treating myself to a nice burrito. with guacamole of course. Relevant experience- 16 months of instrumentation engineering experience as a co-op student - Implemented a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tool, rolled it out to the company and helped train employees as a co-op student - 3+ years of customer service experience at Canadian Tire Technical skills- Comfortable creating engineering drawings and assemblies using AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor and Creo Elements - Very experienced using the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) to develop and format documents - Hands-on experience troubleshooting analog and digital electronic circuits and systems - Recreational hobby learning various programming languages (Java, C++, XML, VBA)
