About Michael Chernoff

An IP attorney and strategist with extensive experience helping organizations build and protect high-value intellectual property portfolios. Recognized by IAM as one of the world’s Top 300 IP Strategists for 11 consecutive years, with a background spanning private practice, in-house leadership, and global IP advisory roles. At Accenture, I directed patent operations for a worldwide portfolio of more than assets, managed outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions, and trained attorneys and inventors on patent eligibility and portfolio best practices. I also collaborated with transactional and litigation teams through patent analytics, due diligence, and claim analysis. Today, I lead the Strategic IP Solutions group at Murgitroyd, where I work with innovators across diverse technical disciplines to design patent strategies, deliver training on IP fundamentals, and provide portfolio analytics and due diligence support. My experience spans the full innovation lifecycle, from invention harvesting and prosecution to portfolio strategy, risk evaluation, and dispute preparation. Earlier in my career, I served as Intellectual Property Counsel at WorldCom, an Associate at Burns Doane Swecker & Mathis LLP, and as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, where I gained foundational experience in patent prosecution, client counseling, and patent analysis.
