About Michael Cobden

I have substantial experience working in both Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) providing strategic leadership and management of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion through the management of Wellbeing departments (Wellbeing - Counselling, Mental Health, Disability, Welfare and Multi-Faith). I am the University lead for risk management as well as being a safeguarding lead. I am student focussed and specialise in assessing risk and supporting students with complex mental health problems and/or autism as well as other disabilities and circumstances that can impact on an individuals wellbeing e.g. LGBTQ+, alcohol and drug misuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. I am passionate about supporting both staff and students to promote positive mental health and wellbeing. I lead by example, managing and supporting a successful pro-active and innovative service. I am a member of London Higher's Task Force for Tackling Racism in Higher Education as well as being an active member of the London Higher's Wellbeing Network. I am a board member of AimHigher London which is a social mobility charity supporting people with disabilities.
