About Michael D. Reed

Michael D. Reed is a senior policy and political professional with nearly two decades of experience on the federal, state, and local levels. Michael currently serves as Director of Whip Operations and Member Services for House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. Michael previously served as Senior Advisor and Director of Member Services for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, where he served as Pelosi’s lead liaison with members of the House of Representatives. Chief of Staff for Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA), representing California’s East Bay area. Michael also served as a senior advisor to Swalwell’s 2020 presidential campaign. Michael also previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) advising her work on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Homeland Security Committee. Michael also helped the Congresswoman establish the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls. Michael has extensive relationships with members and staff across Capitol Hill, particularly within the House Democratic Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Future Forum, and the delegations for California and New Jersey. Michael also served as a policy advisor for the National Conference of State Legislatures and the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, respectively, specializing in economic development, labor, trade, and education policy. Additional experience includes work for U.S. Senator Robert Menendez and New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine. In addition to his policy expertise, Michael has also advised more than a dozen political campaigns across the United States. In his free time, Michael enjoys cooking, golf, reading, and mentoring. He lives in Washington DC with his wife Keenan. Michael is a proud native of Trenton, NJ.
