About Michael Deblis

I specialize in entertainment law and U.S. international tax law, assisting U.S. citizens and residents who are living abroad come into compliance with their foreign asset reporting obligations, including shepherding them through the IRS’s Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP) and the IRS’s Streamlined Program. In this capacity, I perform risk assessments to identify which compliance options are suitable for the client and guide them through the labyrinth of foreign asset reporting requirements that has come to be known as the U.S. outbound international taxation system. I also handle civil tax controversies ranging from mediation with IRS Appeals to litigation in U.S. Tax Court and collection issues, including release of federal tax liens and wage garnishments. A small but vibrant area of my practice is criminal defense. I have written articles that have appeared in such national publications as CCH Journal of Tax Practice and Procedure, EA Journal, Global Tax Weekly, and ABA News Quarterly. I am a frequent contributor to Law360.
