About Michael Delaney

I have always been fascinated by machinery, and how things work. Forever pulling something apart, and putting something together, I have always needed to have an understanding of our physical world. An early obsession of Lego and fixing bicycles has since developed into a Mechanical Engineering degree from Queensland University of Technology, and a International Welding Engineer qualification. These days, I still do what I love, which is making stuff. As a Engineer at a metal fabrication company that primarily works for major Defence OEM's, I get to assist on manufacturing world class products that get put to use in some of the hardest conditions known. I have been in two primary roles so far in my career, firstly in Estimation, then moving into Quality. My major successes in both of these roles include- Quoting and job planning on the manufacture of components for world class armoured vehicles that will eventually be in service with the Commonwealth of Australia- Representing the company and achieving no non-conformances (NCR's) throughout any major certification audits to ISO 9001, ISO 3834, DIN 2303 and TL 2350- Having a key role in implementing new Quality systems to enter manufacture of armoured steel components, which have been approved by several OEM's and government agencies- Design of countless quality of life improvements for both client and internal parts- Having a key role in the implementation of a new ERP systemWhen I am not working I spend time with my family and friends, and enjoy camping and exploring the lesser travelled parts of Australia.
