About Michael Dempsey

MICHAEL DEMPSEY is the Owner & Artistic Director of SmashUp Entertainment, a dynamic film and theatre company that produces original, one-of-kind live and filmed productions, online media, and engaging corporate events and workshops. He also heads Dempsey Creative Services, specializing in copywriting, branding, marketing, advertising, graphic and web design, campaign creation, project management and platform-building. He also works as an independent contractor directing commercials, videos, online events, and is highly skilled in post-production editing and special effects. Michael brings his considerable storytelling, entertainment, and business talents to the creation of unique and deeply effective products and activities, be it print, social media, online content and platform creation, virtual and immersive experiences, consulting, leadership, public speaking and red carpet coaching. He is a professional comedy writer, theatrical and video director and producer, as well as a published novelist (the sci fi crime thriller, NECROPOLIS, Night Shade Books.) He's written, produced, directed and performed in theater, TV and film in New York, LA, Louisville, Cleveland and regionally. Michael wrote for network television in the 90s, most notably CBS’s "Cybill" starring Cybill Shepherd. He has sold and optioned screenplays and television scripts to companies such as Tritone Productions and Carsey-Werner Productions (The Cosby Show, Roseanne, That 70′s Show). His plays have been produced in New York, LA, and across the country. A member of the Writer’s Guild of America, the Dramatists Guild and Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America, he's the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Fellowship for playwriting, an Addy Award for copywriting, and other honors. Michael has also volunteered as production manager and director of TEDx events, and created and run writing programs in schools."EVERYTHING is story." Michael studied acting, music and musical theatre performance at Ohio State University, was a member of the prestigious Professional Training Company at Actors Theatre of Louisville and Shakespearean Acting with the National Theatre of Great Britain and workshops at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
