About Michael Desilva

I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University. I graduated with honors and have acquired a sound overall knowledge of leading edge engineering principles, tools and practices with emphasis on design, building and testing of mechanical systems. During the course of my Engineering education, I have developed a number of technical skills like VBA, MATLAB, LabVIEW, CATIAV5, AutoCAD, and MS Office applications. I have applied class room learning to many successful team design projects as a leader and a member. I have also proven to be successful in meeting deadlines and exceeding the expectations on these projects. For my senior design project which was “Engine Pylon Ventilation” for Textron aviation, we received third place for the Adam Calik award at the open house. I have gained experience in manufacturing when I worked at TECT Aerospace as an intern. I have a passion for figuring out how things work and problem solving. I have been working on automobiles since I was 12 years and owned my own automobile repair shop as an adult. My passion for automobiles, and hands on learning is what made me pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have also proven my leadership skills in 11 years of management. As a manager I have established and monitored daily work schedules and priorities to ensure target goals are met. While establishing policies and procedures, I determine budget objectives, review forecast goals, and facilitate process improvement initiative.
