About Michael Dierks

Michael has been working on product and system design, research, and controls development from the beginning of his professional career in 1984. While at Olin Corporation, Michael was instrumental in the update and improvement of vintage process equipment that could not be forsaken, as well as the installation of new production facilities. This period instilled an understanding of the value in communications and team building between organizational areas, as many diverse groups shared responsibility for the final improved function. Michael completed advanced studies in microprocessor design and modern control theory at SIU-E while teaching course work at the undergraduate level. He authored several technical papers on aircraft fight control which were presented and published for AIAA GNC conferences. At DICKEY-john, he continued this emphasis of product development and controls design with numerous commercial products for the agricultural market and large OEM’s. Application of modeling and controls analysis to design problem yielded significant value in terms of performance and implementation cost reduction on both the sensing and controller side of the equation. At Cognitive, Michael was able to markedly improve the existing printer offerings and guide new product development with effective methods of system control and integration, using an expertise that spans the electrical, software, and mechanical systems realm. Michael is passionate about firmware development and the application of control design to create innovative solutions that solve problems.
