About Michael Downs

I'm a proud union plumber. I take pride in the brotherhood and sisterhood that I am a part of and in helping keeping the whole local 502 strong. I have 10 years experience in the plumbing industry. The last 5 have been at Hussung Mechanical Contractors working out of the the Local 502 Union Hall. I came into the union with my Kentucky journeyman plumbing license and came in as an apprentice to master my craft instead of coming in as a provisional journeyman plumber. So I went through 3 years of the Local 502 apprenticeship program and became a journeyman in the Local 502 in 2020. Through out my 3 years of schooling I became a licensed master plumber in the state of Kentucky, obtained my journeyman HVAC Kentucky license, got certified as a medical gas installer, became a certified backflow tester in Kentucky and Indiana, got my UA rigging and signal person certifications, became certified as a UA foreman and finished all classes to obtain associates degree in applied sciences through Ivy Tech Community College. I have also been trained and know how to operate the Trimble operating system and tablet for use of job layout. I'm a goal driven individual, a team player and can be a leader of men and women when called upon. Integrity means everything to me. I hold myself and others around me to high standards. We must all stay humble and hold ourselves and others accountable to achieve what we are all here to achieve in our business: 1. Get the job done safely 2. Get the job done right 3. Get the job done as fast as you can As a foreman it is my job to make the contractor I'm working for as much money as possible off every job. I have three things I feel like all foreman should provide their men and women with, in order to succeed: T.I.M. Tools Information and Material. I feel as though we all have a responsibility to be better and do better everyday of our lives, business and personal. I'm not perfect by any means but everyday is another step forward in the right direction. I strive for perfection everyday knowing I'll never be able to achieve it but I'll try again tomorrow.
