About Michael Dufour

I am a recent graduate (May, 2019) with a diploma in Environmental Technology and a BSc in Environmental Science. I have experience collecting environmental samples and field chemistry data, conducting laboratory analyses of the samples, and performing data analysis. My field work has included the collection of water and soil samples from various locations, fish via seining, and benthic invertebrates using OBBN certified methods. My laboratory work has included conducting chemical extractions from soils, sediments and fish tissue, preforming chemical analysis of water and soil samples, mixing chemical standards and reagents, dissecting and aging fish, and calibrating and maintaining equipment. I have knowledge of geological, ecological and climatic processes, and working knowledge of Canadian and Ontario environmental legislation. I have developed my communication and leadership skills as a member of Toastmasters International, where I have achieved Advanced Communicator Silver and Advanced Leadership Bronze and have sat on a club executive committee as Vice President of Education and Sargent-at-arms. I have obtained the Entry Level Certification for Water Treatment and Distribution, and Wastewater Collection and Distribution through the OWWCO, OBBN Certification, and a Pleasure Craft Operator's card.
