About Michael Dunn

As an employee of WGAL I have experience in variegated facets of fast-paced live television production including camera operation, audio operation, technical directing, directing, live shot coordination, editing, and assistant producing. I have also honed writing and photography skills as a freelancer. I have vast on-set experience in live and scripted productions both professionally and as a student holding positions from Gaffer up to Director. I am a Summa Cum Laude graduate of University of Pittsburgh's Media and Professional Communications program. Currently I am employed by WGAL News 8 as an operations technician, working on lighting, sets, and operating camera. I am passionate about media outlets seeking to weave breathtaking, incisive narratives and hope to someday make an impact in people's lives by creating works of my own. I am eager and prepared to expand my knowledge and gain experience in the career field. My ultimate goal is to someday direct or write anything from music videos to commercials to film. Formerly, I have worked on Ithaca college's television network ICTV and as an ESPN utility for the NHRA Drag Racing Series. I have also worked for UPTV (University of Pittsburgh's television station) and Pitt-TV sports, which produced broadcasts of Pitt Athletics on ACC Network. I have experience as a cameraman, editor, utility, time-out coordinator, and stat tracker for women's volleyball, women's soccer, men's soccer, baseball, and softball at Pitt. As a utility I assisted in daily setup and striking including cameras, equipment, cabling, and generators. I also worked as cameraman assistant and RF pointer. I operated a Helmet-Cam for use on Live shows for ESPN. I worked as a lighting designer/engineer for the Ithaca College Television show, Fakeout, a comedic game show that aired weekly throughout the semester. I also served as an editor for the comedy variety show "Uploaded" which was a taped variety show focusing on humorous clips on the internet and social media that aired in mid-November 2014. My concentration is in digital media production. I have a certificate in Corporate and Community Relations. I have a minor in creative writing I am skilled with Microsoft Office and competent with the Adobe Suite including Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, and Premiere. I also have experience using Finalcut Pro. I am a skilled writer and copyeditor.
