About Michael E. Birge
Mike has over 40 years of insurance experience as a senior manager in a variety of organizations. After graduating from Drake University in 1979, he started his insurance career in Des Moines, Iowa as a commercial lines underwriter. He worked in various capacities at insurance companies in both retail and wholesale brokerage, including Hartford, Crum & Forster, and Alexander and Alexander. Later, he created trucking programs for two different insurance companies. In he joined Kaufman & Kaufman, a retail trucking specialty agency, where he served as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer. Mike was made President of HUB Transportation in 2007 after the agency was acquired in late 2006. Besides holding a Bachelor’s Degree from Drake University (’79), in 1990 he also obtained his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He has been recognized with Hub’s prestigious Chairmans award 4 times and the President’s Trophy over his 15 year tenure with Hub Transportation.
