About Michael E. Rolland
I am a PhD Candidate in Hispanic Linguistics at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. I am writing my dissertation on language ideologies in heritage Spanish pedagogy. I teach Spanish-English translation and Spanish language courses at a variety of levels at Hunter College, CUNY, where I am currently the student advisor for the undergraduate Spanish-major concentration in T&I and for Spanish-track students in the Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation. I also hold an undergraduate degree in Italian Studies. Since 2007, I have worked in a variety of capacities in the language services industry, as a freelance translator, project coordinator, quality reviewer, and quality manager. My A language is English, and I have been qualified by a former employer as having native-like skills in Spanish; my skills in Italian are of a similar level.
