About Michael Edwards
I am Managing & Scientific Director of Virtus Respiratory Research Limited, a unique contract research organisation performing pre-clinical and clinical R&D in the respiratory field. In particular, Virtus promotes the use of virus challenge models to improve Phase 2 clinical testing of new medicines, circumventing the need for large and expensive clinical trials. Virtus also offer specialised COVID antibody testing using a quantitative in house serology assay that focuses on the S1 (Spike) protein. I also work one day a week at Imperial College London as Senior Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine & Infections. My research interests include respiratory drug discovery, and better understanding the basic mechanisms of respiratory virus infection; particularly in the chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD.
