About Michael Ellis

Travel, words, wine, organic specialty coffee, and Mexican street food: these are a few of my favorite things. When I'm not devising communications campaigns, pitching to press, or drafting creative copy, you’ll very likely find me hiking somewhere near the coast of Baja. Over a decade of experience as a public relations and communications professional in various industries has taught me the true art of communication and the power of becoming a supreme storyteller. Strategy coupled with unique insight and the ability to build strong relationships has empowered me to lead successful, dynamic, and creative campaigns for large and small organizations from local to international. I began my career at a global firm specializing in tech working on numerous b2b and b2c accounts and placing impactful stories in national publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Bloomberg, and many top tech publications including TechCrunch, Mashable, GigaOM and WIRED. I subsequently managed in-house PR for a marketing technology startup and have consulted on multiple real estate, hospitality, restaurant, nonprofit, and lifestyle campaigns. I graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in Communication and PR with a double minor in Spanish and Sociology. While at SDSU, I also studied abroad in both Mexico and France. After graduating, I taught English in Asia for a year to continue exploring unknown exotic places.
