About Michael Fabrizio

I have been incredibly fortunate personally and professionally having trained at Thomas Jefferson University and Johns Hopkins University in Urology/Endourology by pioneers including Demetrius Bagley MD (upper tract endoscopy) and Louis Kavoussi MD(laparoscopic radical prostatectomy/donor nephrectomy) among others followed by a career with partners and mentors who were giants in their fields including Paul Schellhammer MD and Gerald Jordan MD. Most importantly throughout these endeavors, I have been blessed with a supportive family. I have been a PI or associate PI in well over 100 clinical trials, published over 100 peer reviewed articles, book chapters, and invited articles. As CEO of Urology of Virginia, I lead our 100 year old practice through a brief employment by a health system and its successful exit. We were fortunate to have 10-15% growth year to year in those 12 years as CEO. I acquired and developed over ft of real estate and saw the successful sale of sq ft. and am actively involved in the creation of multiple equity investments in the private sector of which many have been sold or acquired. During my career at Urology of Virginia, I started an Endourology Fellowship, laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy program, laparoscopic and robotic radical prostatectomy program(also in the FDA trials), brought robotic surgery to Sentara Health System, Chesapeake Regional, and Bon Secours system in Hampton Roads, created an advanced prostate cancer program complete with an in office dispensary and navigation program, and created joint ventures including a free standing ambulatory surgery center with a Davinci Robotic system. I worked with many companies during the last decade as an educator, thought leader, consultant and advisor. I co-founded a company in the British Virgin Islands and U.S. to provide care to patients in the Caribbean and ultimately serve as a care delivery system for patients in the United States. I have been fortunate enough to serve on numerous boards and advisory positions including LUGPA, EOS Surfaces, Intouch Health (sold to Teledoc), Virtuoso Surgical, Montecito Medical, to name a few. Finally, I am involved in numerous charitable organizations here and abroad and ultimately hope to improve access to healthcare in this country and beyond our borders.
