About Michael Franks

I’ve spent the majority of my career advising/banking/investing in private equity and venture capital firms. I’m passionate about my role as a community builder in this ecosystem and frequently bring the key players together hosting dinners, mixers, relevant speakers and round table discussions. I regularly attend and speak at industry events often helping build and contribute content. As a Senior Managing Director at First Republic Bank based on Sand Hill Road, I’m primarily focused on leading our efforts to build and grow our private equity, venture capital and technology banking practices. In addition, I lead First Republic Bank’s business banking group in Silicon Valley. Prior to First Republic Bank, I spent almost 10 years at Silicon Valley Bank leading its private equity services group on the West Coast growing the PE/VC clients by about 3x. Prior to that I began my career at Comerica Bank focused on banking middle market companies where I developed and expertise in asset based lending, cash flow lending and buyout financing. During my career I’ve worked with many top tier private equity and venture capital firms including Golden Gate Capital, Sequoia Capital, Silver Lake Partners, Redpoint, Francisco Partners, Benchmark Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund and many others. I also serve as the Executive Director for Financial Executives Alliance (“FEA”) in Northern California after founding the chapter several years ago. FEA is a private equity/venture capital COO/CFO networking group that boosts more than members.
