About Michael Fraser

As VP University Relations at Queen’s University, I lead a broad portfolio spanning government relations, communications, and marketing. Working with a high-performing team, I focus on building reputation, advancing strategic priorities through effective advocacy, and strengthening stakeholder engagement—within a complex, highly regulated environment. My background includes over 15 years in senior leadership roles across government, politics, and public affairs. I’ve served as Chief of Staff to a senior federal Cabinet Minister and to the Leader of the Official Opposition, where I developed deep expertise in political strategy, policy development, and legislative process. I continue to apply those skills today to influence outcomes at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. I began my career in the private sector with The Coca-Cola Company, where I built foundational experience in brand management and marketing strategy that continues to shape my approach to reputation leadership, audience engagement, and brand positioning. I hold an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, and I am an alumnus of the General Management Program at Harvard Business School. I bring a strategic, collaborative approach to leadership—integrating communications, advocacy, and marketing to build influence and drive results. Whether leading national campaigns, advising executives, or navigating public policy challenges, I focus on building trust, shaping perception, and achieving measurable impact.
