About Michael Gianfrancesco
I am a high school ELA teacher who focuses on graphic novels and popular culture in the classroom. I am is also an adjunct professor of English and graphic novel educational curriculum consultant who advocates for the use of comics in education. To these ends, I have curated programming at Harvard, Brown, Fordham, SDCC, NYCC, C2E2, DPCC, ALA, NEATE, NCTE, and other institutions and events. I am a founding member of the LitX teacher cohort, the Program Director for Rhode Island Comic Con, and a comic creator whose first foray as a writer was to work on the script for the CISA-commissioned graphic novel Real Fake. These days I help curate virtual and in person programming for teachers who want to use sequential art in their classrooms.
