About Michael Gilbert

Michael is a chartered town planner with a First Class Masters Degree in Town and Country Planning. He has extensive consultancy experience acting for a range of private and public sector clients including national and local housebuilders, strategic land development companies, private landowners and other commercial investors. Michael has a strong track record of successfully promoting sites through the development plan process and securing planning permission for residential, supported living, Extra Care, retail, major infrastructure and mixed-use schemes. Michael provides planning advice at all stages of the development lifecycle, from initial due diligence through to the planning application and discharge of condition stages. He regularly appears at local plan examinations, submits representations to consultations, and leads multi-disciplinary teams preparing planning applications. He therefore has a thorough appreciation of planning and development delivery issues and is fully conversant with current planning policy guidance and legislation. Michael also advises local authorities throughout the United Kingdom on the housing, retail, employment and leisure aspects of their planning policies, and is particularly experienced in preparing Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessments and other related studies. Michael has also been involved in a range of development feasibility studies, regeneration strategies and masterplans for private and public sector organisations.
