About Michael Gillies

With over 20 years of experience in management across various sectors, I served as Executive Assistant, Operations at Save the Children Canada. In this role, I provided vital scheduling and administrative support to the Leadership and Executive Teams, including the Vice President of Operations and the Director of International Programs & Partnerships. My work was central to the mission of reaching the most marginalized and underserved children globally, ensuring seamless operations and effective communication within the team to advance strategic goals and impactful initiatives. I oversaw the Executive Office at Community Living Ontario, where we supported individuals with intellectual disabilities through a network of 119 member agencies. I worked closely with senior leadership, the Board of Directors, family committees, and a council of self-advocates to ensure our mission of empowerment and support was upheld. My career has spanned the arts, health sector, and hospitality industry, where I supported membership, marketing, and fundraising for prominent institutions such as live theatre companies, ballet, opera, museums, and art galleries. As a fundraiser, I led initiatives that raised millions for non-profits, driving sustainable growth and impactful programs. Passionate about social justice, disability rights, and 2SLGBTQIA+ equality, I strive to create inclusive environments where everyone feels valued. My commitment to these causes motivates my work, from supporting the Annual Inspiring Possibilities conference to championing the rights and potential of individuals with disabilities.
