About Michael Gimenez

For about 20 years, I have been working as an Editor, Camera Operator and Director on documentaries, corporate, promotional videos & short films. More recently, I have crossed over into motion design and art direction for advertisements. As a freelance filmmaker and editor, my clients have ranged from TV channels to cultural institutions to private companies. My jobs have taken me all over Europe and North & South America. In many of these projects, I have been contributing to the original concepts and storytelling. From 2014 through 2018, I traveled to Brazil to film and edit feature documentaries, TV documentaries, TV reports and news. I have also co-directed a short documentary for the Brazilian TV channel Canal Futura, as well as a long feature documentary investigating sexuality issues and related political concerns, entitled "Sex, Sermons and Politics". This film has been screened in various festivals in Brazil and internationally, and has been broadcast on Brazilian and French TV. I am fluent in French (mother tongue) and English, and have lived in France, the Czech Republic, the United States, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. I received a Master's Degree in Fine Arts in France, and, along with my professional work, I help make short films from time to time.
