About Michael Gouge

Michael is a Newfoundland based Guitarist currently teaching and performing in St. John’s. Originally from Brampton Ontario, Michael completed his Bachelor of Music degree at Carleton University under renowned guitarists Roddy Ellias and Julien Bisaillon. He is an internationally trained musician through his abroad studies in Israel, where he studied at the prestigious Buchmann Mehta School of Music in the capital city of Tel Aviv. Recognized for his vast knowledge and superb patience with his guitar students, Michael has been continually recognized as an extraordinary teacher and ideal mentor for young students. He is an experienced teacher in classroom settings through his past position as a volunteer music- teacher for the Dufferin of Peel School Board. Michael also has experience as a private instructor through teaching at his home studio, and also instructing guitar for the City of Brampton. Michael is a versatile musician as he is trained in Classical music, Jazz styles and Popular Music. He has performed in a variety of ensembles such as chamber music ensembles, jazz groups and a variety of rock-bands. Mr. Gouge is a seasoned performer, with experience throughout Canada. He has been praised for his captivating tone, virtuosity, and ability to perform for a variety of audiences, and is frequently active within the St. John’s area. Michael is currently completing his Master of Music Degree at Memorial University under Sylvie Proulx.
