With a passion for the performing arts and a diverse educational background, Michael F. Grimsley is a dedicated educator and Assistant Principal at Midlands STEM Charter School. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Music degree, with emphases in both Band and Orchestra, and further pursued his Master of Music Education degree, focusing on Orchestra and Early Childhood Music. During his time at the university, Michael excelled in playing the trumpet and bass, showcasing his musical versatility and dedication to his craft. Additionally, his involvement in recording technology and technical theatre has broadened his skill set and deepened his understanding of various aspects of the arts. Having accumulated over 16 years of experience in the education sector, Michael's journey has seen him contribute significantly to the musical education of students across various age groups. His previous roles in Lexington County School District One and Richland One have equipped him with invaluable insights and a comprehensive understanding of educational dynamics, particularly within the South Carolina education system. Recently, Michael completed his Master's in Education degree at the University of South Carolina, focusing on Education Administration, and has since been appointed as the Assistant Principal, responsible for overseeing the Middle and High School at Midlands STEM Charter School. His research interests encompass critical areas such as school safety, fostering positive culture and climate, and addressing the pressing issue of the teacher shortage in South Carolina. Michael's well-rounded expertise in the performing arts, coupled with his extensive educational background and leadership role, reflect his unwavering commitment to nurturing a dynamic learning environment that fosters holistic student development and academic excellence.
