About Michael Guy

I am a PhD candidate at George Washington University with a focus in Early American History and the British Atlantic World. I have an M.A. in Museum Studies and Historical Preservation with a focus in history from Morgan State University and a B.A. in History from the University of Baltimore. At Morgan, I focused my academic course work on exhibition design and development, and African American history. I am particularly interested in increasing African American representation in museum, not only in the exhibitions, but as workers and patrons. In 2018, I held an internship with the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art, where I learned the process of mount making and mounting artwork while helping the museum prepare for their Good As Gold Exhibit. I will spend the first few years of my PhD research studying the role of Africans and their descendants in Early America and the Atlantic world, while developing my skills in public history. Outside of the world of Academia, I have worked as a Records Coordinator for two multinational law firms. In this role I have honed my skills in many facets of the legal and professional world.
