About Michael Hamlin

I started out in New York State, I was able to attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the tender age of 15 years old. I attended the Virginia Military Institute and graduated in 1983 with a Bachelors of Arts. I enlisted in the Army as a 11B (Light Infantry), in 1984. I spent the next nearly 5 years in a Mechanized Infantry unit, as PLL clerk, Supply Clerk, M2 Bradley, Driver and Gunner and squad leader. I reenlisted for Air Defense Artillery as a 24T (PATRIOT system Operator/Maintainer). Spent the next several years developing as a Non-commissioned Officer and leader of soldiers of diverse background and skill-sets. Developing my skills as a technician, for electronics, power generation as well as fleet management. By the time I was appointed as WO1 (Warrant Officer 1), I was well prepared for the challenge. I was challenged to continue to develop my maintenance management, as well as personal management and leadership skills. I was required to interact outside my unit with both military and civilian personal to accomplish my missions, including 3 successful deployments to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. For several years I worked extensively with modeling and simulations in the Air Defense Battle Lab, collaborating across the country, with other Battle Labs. Upon retirement, I worked as a military analyst writing Air Defense Doctrine, and working withing the Acquisition Community developing Operational Architecture for the Future Forces Integration Directorate which changed to the Brigade Modernization Command, where I was tasked with Horse Blanket Development as well as assisting with the force development section documenting upcoming changes in the force.
