About Michael Hampton

Fifteen years of experience as an Assistant Professor of English teaching a wide variety of courses including developmental writing, composition, creative writing, and literature. Over a decade of experience in online teaching on multiple Learning Management Systems (LMS) and professionally certified in best practices for online learning through Quality Matters. Consistently nominated for Teaching Excellence awards by my students in addition to professional recognition by my peers. Served as Chair for two of the college's five standing committees as well as serving on other departmental and college-wide committees responsible for faculty hires, student learning outcome assessment, and faculty support. Founded and directed the UC Clermont College Fiction Reading Series which featured national best-selling authors and poet laureates. Took an active role in community outreach by offering readings and teaching free writing workshops to the public. Award-winning author of five books of fiction who has published numerous shorter works of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and essay. Creative work received an Individual Excellence Award and grant from the Ohio Arts Council and has been nominated for honors such as the Iowa Short Fiction Prize.
