About Michael Hanke

With over nine years of experience in data analytics, machine learning, and spectroscopy, I’ve built a career that blends technical expertise with hands-on leadership. After completing my PhD in Astrophysics, I spent four years at BASF Group, quickly rising to Principal Scientist. There, I developed machine learning models and data analysis tools for spectroscopy, signal processing, and optical hardware. This background has helped me shaping my approach to solving complex problems with innovative methods. Currently, I lead the Software & Data Science department at QuantumDiamonds GmbH, where we’re pioneering the industrialization of quantum sensing applications. We use nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond to push the boundaries of high-sensitivity vectorial magnetic field sensing. My team and I develop software systems and machine learning models that extract insights from quantum-level data, helping industries like semiconductor manufacturing achieve breakthroughs in failure analysis. One of the aspects I find most rewarding is the collaboration between software, data science, and hardware engineering. By bridging these areas, we create solutions that are greater than the sum of their parts. This approach has allowed us to continually innovate and add value for our clients.
