Background
About Michael Hartrey
My time as an educator began in 2020 as an AmeriCorps tutor for Match Education. After my service year ended, I returned to Match to become a full-time classroom instructor. Currently teaching 8th grade History, I work with my scholars to recognize just how innately our past informs our present. As we cover the timeline of Reconstruction up to modern day social and political issues, our shared goal is to obtain as objective and thorough of an understanding of our nation’s history as possible. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Boston University, primarily focused on the political and social institutions of race, gender, and sexuality. Inspired by my time at Match, I decided to combine my experiences and further my education through the Education Policy program at the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth.
