About Michael Hausner

Michael started his career in the marine mining industry in 1997 after completing his studies in Mechanical Engineering in Cape Town, South Africa. From the onset of his career Michael has been involved with marine and mining related projects including participation in the development of the most successful underwater mining systems in the world, still in operation off the West Coast of South Africa and Namibia today. A move to the second largest marine diamond mining company led to involvement with the construction and offshore operation of the largest diamond mining vessel in the world at the time, as well as various engineering projects for the other four vessels (Mining and Sampling) in the company’s fleet. Moving away from operations and back into design led to a time in a UK based engineering consultancy involved in the offshore oil & gas sector, focusing on deep water buoyancy and riser and piping systems. Returning to South Africa Michael’s experience extended to marine and land based mineral processing, the development of Walking Jack-up Platform technology for ultra-shallow water and surf-zone sampling, underwater mining system development for unique inland and offshore underwater mining applications, and offshore oil & gas related equipment supply. Between 2011 and 2018 Michael held senior management and executive positions at ADP Marine & Modular, focusing on extending their marine interests in dredging, walking jack-up technology, marine processing plants and development of marine technology. Additionally Michael provided project management and engineering consulting input for Underwater Mining Solutions (UMS) a subsidiary company of ADP M&M, focusing on marine mining and sampling technology, solution development and equipment supply for the marine mining industry. In 2018 Michael moved to De Beers Marine and was part of the management team for delivering the state of the art new mining vessel the Benguela Gem.
