About Michael Heilig
My interest in plastics was sparked at an early stage through my materials science studies in functional materials. In 2015, my master's thesis on "Investigation and application of thermography as a quality feature of thermally joined plastic components" was awarded the SKZ Young Scientist Prize. Since 2014, I have been involved with research topics related to surface technology, bonding and welding of plastics at SKZ. I acquire and manage public research projects, support and advise industrial customers on research issues and coordinate further training courses on surface technology. Since 2023, I have taken over as group leader for “Adhesives and Surface Technology” and am developing strategic and future topics for the research group. In addition, I am the honorary head of the "Surface Technology" working group in the Kunststoff Netzwerk Franken e.V.(Franconian Plastics Network).
