About Michael Hendry

My career in Health IT started with my direct involvement with the computerization of VA's nationwide health care system known as the Decentralize Hospital Computer Program (DHCP) which evolved to VistA. My successful career with the Dept. of Veteran Affairs and VistA includes the following: • Program Manager of CPRS Installed at over 125 medical center Over concurrent daily users Generating over clinical orders monthly • Program Manager for the Health Data Repository • Program Manager for the initial efforts to re-engineer Clinical Laboratory • Program Manager for the successful delivery of the VistA Blood Bank System, a FDA registered medical device • Program Manager for VistA Imaging, also a registered FDA medical device • Program Manager for the initial efforts of Data Standardization I retired as the Director of Health Provider Systems in the Office of Information and Technology in Washington DC with portfolio management and oversight responsibilities for ALL clinical VistA systems including development, sustainment and acquisitions of Clinical applications. Since retirement I served as a contract resource as associate PM and VistA expert to the VA’s successful CMS mandated ICD-10 adoption effort and a successful Standards and Terminology Services Data Mapping project to improve data sharing with DoD Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF). Contracted program manger VA data standardization, contracted project manager Liberty IT successfully delivering two VIstA interfaces to Cerner for in the EHRM project.
