About Michael Hirsch
I am currently the Head of Higher Education and Careers at West Island School. In taking on this role, I sought to increase program visibility, increase parent engagement, and to create a counseling culture that makes all students and families feel seen and valued as they research and navigate their own post-secondary pathways. My background as an experienced educator and Secondary School Principal with a demonstrated history of success delivering the MYP and DP Programmes, and having successfully achieved CP programme authorization gives me unique perspectives and strengths within my role. My areas of interest include post-secondary guidance, issues related to access to higher education, constructivist education, authentic assessment, design thinking, data analysis and application, pastoral care, the development of agency and efficacy in staff and students, and issues related to refugee education.
