About Michael Horne

My proven expertise in the benefits and insurance field is not simply due to extensive work experience, but also personal experience. Having lived through the loss of a business partner at a young age, I was impacted and affected directly, and as a result, learned a great deal about the intricacies of business transition and succession. When I work with clients, I make a point of truly listening. On the surface, benefits and insurance can seem like something that is quite formulaic in nature. But nothing could be further from the truth. Every business and client we work with is unique, and as such, deserves individualized, customized solutions. I work very hard to ensure those solutions are sound, sensible, and as comprehensive and robust as necessary. In addition to my passion for my daily work, I am deeply involved in the business community, having sat on a number of advisory boards, as well as receiving the honour of being one of the Ottawa Journal’s Top Forty Under 40. I also hold membership in the CALU (Canadian Association of Life Underwriters), TEC Canada and Advocis, the industry’s governing body. As Partner and Co-Founder of Meldrum Horne, I feel strongly about maintaining my skills and industry qualifications.
