Background
About Michael J. Anglin
I had been at Federal-Mogul since it was AE Piston as a Manpower Temporary in August of 1993 and worked nearly every night until I was hired permanently by the renamed AE Goetze in December of 1994. I worked primarily at Tin Plate, but was able to jump right in any position required for the shift. In 1997 I moved to the foundry where I have worked Bulk Melt and Casting Cell. Producing a wide variety of aluminum automotive piston castings with ever evolving micron tolerance cast-in features to satisfy customer fuel efficiency goals and demands. I have learned a variety of functions across numerous departments to facilitate shifting demand or maintenance schedules, inspecting, loading, packing requirements and Work-in-Process operations. I completed an in house Quality Control course directed by Ivy Tech and have passed the standard QC test. I am trained in Kaizan, 5S, EHS standards, and its successors, also serving as an internal auditor, Lean Management and was a member of the Safety Committee. I enjoy learning new things and improving on every area of my experiences. My interest in shortwave radio broadcasts, especially those in German, led to get my amateur radio license and I have spent the last few years volunteering and coordinating with the Emergency Management Agency and area amateur radio groups. As the appointed Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) Emergency Coordinator for St. Joseph County, I was responsible for recruitment, promotion, education and planning for the amateur radio volunteers in the event of a communication failure or declared disaster. We provide communication for the Sunburst Marathon each year. I have been honored to serve the National Weather Service Northern Indiana Office Integrated Warning Team to improve public notification of Severe Weather and served as the St. Joseph County Skywarn Officer, the liaison between the amateur radio Storm Spotters and the National Weather Service Meteorologists during Severe Weather.
