About Michael Jacobson
I was born in Launceston, Tasmania, in 1961 and began my journalism career at the The Examiner newspaper in 1980. After completing a cadetship, I became a feature writer, columnist and chief sports sub-editor until 1989 when I left to join the Gold Coast Bulletin. There I served roles as sub-editor, deputy features editor, the newspaper's first real estate editor, and weekend magazine editor before becoming senior feature writer and columnist. I left the newspaper in 2012 and joined Griffith University as Communications Officer in March 2013, including the role as editor of the university's annual alumni magazine, Griffith, in 2014 and 2015. I was appointed Communications Manager for the Office of Development & Alumni in February 2016. In July 2017, I left Griffith University to co-found Very Media, a media and communications company. I have written two best-selling novels (Windmill Hill, 2002) and (Always East, 2004). I am married with two children.
