About Michael James

Michael is responsible for the business and project delivery of infrastructure advisory services across all sectors in Tasmania. He is a versatile achievement-driven and seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, which included 12 years in the Middle East where he was the Director of Project Management Middle East for Currie & Brown and healthcare sector lead for Leighton Contracting Abu Dhabi. His prior Australian experience includes 15 years as Managing Director of his own design and project management company that executed projects nationally and in China and Japan. Michael has particular expertise in the set up and briefing of high risk high-value technically complex projects with a track record for delivering some of the world’s most challenging nation-building projects. During his international career he has managed the delivery of $11.5B in executed projects, in key roles for the following: PMC Director, Al Wakrah FIFA 2022 World Cup Stadium, Qatar ($USD1Bn). PMO Director, infrastructure masterplanning and early activation projects for Diriyah Gate, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (USD $17Bn). Project Director, Expo 2020 Village, Dubai (USD $600m). Design Director, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, People's Republic of China (USD $55m). Managing Director, several museum projects for the Queensland Heritage Trails Network ($110m). My objective is to give back my mega‐project experience through the key direction of important local projects in beautiful Tasmania.
